Make the first move

A recent conversation with a business leader reminded me of something that I believe many of us forget.

We spend so much time worrying about making the right decision that we end up making no decision at all.

Every decision is made with the information, experience, and circumstances you have at that moment. Once you've taken the time to think it through, make the decision... then stop asking, "What if I had done something different?".

You can't go back and replay yesterday with today's knowledge.

The goal isn't to be right every time, but to make thoughtful decisions, own the outcome, learn from it, and keep moving.

If you're never making mistakes, you're probably not stretching yourself enough.

Growth is uncomfortable. Change is uncomfortable. Taking risks is uncomfortable.

Doing what you've always done feels safe, but it rarely leads anywhere new.

Some of the biggest successes, in business and in life, are built on lessons learned from decisions that didn't work out the way we hoped.

The important part isn't avoiding mistakes.

It's avoiding the fear of making them.

Because every decision teaches you something, but only if you're willing to own it.
